Today we spent the day helping our friends Jeff and Michele with their son's grad party. It was a beautiful day and a great party with lots of friends around. What was really great was that this is the first year that we can really let the girls run around freely and feel like they really have enough base life skills and common sense to keep from falling of a cliff or running into the campfire with out having to remind them not to do these things. So, from the time that we got there at about 10:30 until we left at about six we kept tabs on them from a distance and let them run around the Sorvik compound doing their own thing. They had a blast and we had some nice uninterrupted conversations with adults, a rare treat!
Naomi did come and check in with me a few times and make sure that I was still around and new what she was doing. On the other hand I don't think Freja came within 100 feet of the house all day. It was on the way home that I figured out why...."A nice boy". As we were driving away Freja says "Mommy, who is C.J.?" and I said "well he is that boy in the red shirt, Kay and Reed's son". To which she responded "No, no, no. I know that, but who IS he? How come he was there, and where is he from?" So I told her all I knew about C.J. She just got a big smile.
"He is a NICE BOY."
